I make sculpture, jewellery and pottery to cherish and use every day. My work explores energy and emotion, tension and edges/boundaries between things, people and nature. I’m fascinated by materials and our relationship with objects. My current focus is on one-off ceramic sculptures pushing boundaries with clay, exploring form and experimenting with new glazes. I also enjoy making functional ware, such as cups, bowls and vases. I completed a Diploma of Fine Arts at the Otago Polytechnic School of Art ages ago, majoring in sculpture. I took up pottery when living in Tochigi-ken, Japan, while teaching English more than 20 years ago. I work out of the best studio ever in Moturoa with lots of space to play. Come visit and chat with me about art, what makes a coffee cup your favourite, and life.
