Gayleen Schrider is a multidisciplinary fiber artist specialising in decorative woven hangings, sculptural pieces, and functional wearable and homeware items. Working primarily on one of three looms, she integrates natural and man-made fibers alongside unconventional materials like copper wire. Her practice extends beyond traditional weaving, incorporating techniques such as knitting, crochet, needlework, and felting to create intricate textural compositions.

Deeply inspired by themes of birds, migration, water, land, and ancestry, her work serves as a woven narrative, imbued with emotional depth and personal reflection. Through a thoughtful fusion of materials and techniques, she explores political, environmental, and sentimental themes, crafting pieces that are both visually compelling and conceptually rich.
